behind on the times?

we might be. but we finally got a lap top. yes we have been living without a computer. don't ask us how we did it. possibly we are just terribly thrifty.
i'm hoping that having a computer will lead me to be craftier.
that's probably just a false hope.
one can dream though, right?

too cute for two months

this cute little lady of ours is two months old now. well....last thursday she turned two months old. but i'm just now getting around to posting this. she got her two month shots and cried her heart out, for about 20 seconds and then as soon as we held her in our arms she calmed down. thank goodness!
at two months now she is exactly 11 pounds and 24 inches long!
here's the best part....she's in the 95th percentile for height! haha.
that cracked tom and i up since i am 5'4" and he is 5'10" on a good day.
hopefully she doesn't get use to it because i have a feeling it's not going to last.

the past week and a half she has started to smile and it is just the best thing ever. sometimes when she is being a little stinker she will flash a smile for half a second and it doesn't matter what she's done, it makes everything worth it. we love our little riley roo so much!

sweet riley's blessing day

on sunday this sweet little girl got blessed and her daddy gave her a beautiful blessing. there were so many people that came to support her, she sure is loved quite a bit!

since i was running around saying hi to everybody i didn't have time to take any pictures. sad day. but fortunately mary ann, kelly and my aunt ann took a few. these are the ones that i have from mary ann. there were more friends that showed up. but i don't have those pictures yet!

18 months coming

crystal's home!!
one of my best friends got back from her mission in canada last week.
i'm so excited.
we hung out last week and she asked me if i could go to a friend's birthday party with her. tom was going to play basketball.
so i said sure, but i had to take riley. ha.

let's just say people look at you weird when you show up to a birthday party with a bunch of single people and you're married. . . with you're baby.
we laughed.

like momma like daughta

anybody who knows me knows that i LOVE my baths.
so does this little lady. guess she is mine after all.

ps she didn't pee in the bath - that's a yellow foam thing to help her sit up.
don't worry.
we are sanitary.

i looked out the window...

and what did i see?
two little sheepies looking at me!
the joys of living on a sheep farm. just about every day this week we have woken up to sheep loose in our yard. needless to say that me and riley girl have become excellent herders this week. that's a lie. we are terrible. but we try.

time sure does fly by

guess who's 1 month old? this little lady is! i went and got her weighed yesterday and she's gained exactly 2 pounds! what a heffer - she now tops the scales at 8 lbs. 10 oz. I tried measuring her and she came out to 19.5 inches long still. but i'm not buying it, she seems way longer to me! tom and i both agree that she's the best thing that has happened to us and we love every minute we spend with her. life couldn't get any better.

our new obsession

Anybody that looks at our blog knows that we had our sweet baby girl back on January 31st...but I thought I would let you all know how it happened and possibly put up a few pictures of her. Who knew this blogging thing could be so hard for me?!? It's certainly not that I don't have time to do it, because I most definitely do!

So on Monday morning at 5 am, Tom and I headed to Orem Community (the best) hospital for me to get induced. I had arguably the easiest pregnancy known to mankind so I was a little bit nervous that because of that I would have the worst labor. I couldn't get away with an easy pregnancy and labor - it just wasn't practical. So we checked into the hospital and around 6 a nurse came in and checked to see how far I was dilated. A 3! Ha I had no idea, and this was my first time ever getting checked for that, so I was a little excited. The nurse then informed me that the doctor would be coming in around 7:30 to break my water....terrified....and wanted to know if I wanted the epidural before then, or after. DUH! I said bring on the epidural, I am not good with pain. Not good with needles either, but I figured the shot wouldn't last as long.

So the anesthesiologist meandered into the room, struggled finding the spot to give me my epidural (turns out I have a crooked back and never knew it) but finally found it and did a wonderful job. I didn't feel a thing! Ten minutes later my eyelids felt like a million pounds each and quickly I passed out from feeling so tired. Doc came in about 8, broke my water, and I still didn't feel a thing. About an hour later the nurse came back in to check up and see how I was doing, how far along I was dilated, yada yada yada. Turns out I had progressed to a 4 during that hour. Pretty neat I thought. I was confused though and asked Jana (my awesome nurse) when I was going to start feeling contractions. She said, "Oh honey, you're having them right now as we speak." She then showed me on the monitor how I could see when I was having a contraction- I had no idea I was having them!

Let me also add that every time the nurse left the room I passed right back out because that epidural made me so so tired! An hour later I was at a 6 and then the next hour I was at a 10. When I got to a ten we waited for an hour for little miss Riley to drop a bit on her own. Doc headed back in around 12:30 to get the little munchkin out of me ha. Drumroll please. Oh, little side note- the epidural did make me nauseous a bit. But only when I sat up all the way. Back to the story...I pushed 3 times and felt like I was the world's crappiest pusher ha but still never felt a thing. I heard from lots of people that they didn't feel pain with an epidural but could feel pressure. No pressure for me. All of a sudden from sitting up and pushing though I felt like I was going to throw up, so I informed the nurse and she handed me a little bag. I didn't have anything in my stomach so there was like half an inch of liquid that came up, but from heaving so hard- out popped the little girl ha ha! The doctor told me that she was out and that I could take a look at her, he held her up, and I just couldn't hack it with her being all covered in that white stuff, so . . . . .I threw up again.

As Riley was getting all cleaned up the doctor confirmed my thoughts, he informed me that I wasn't a very good pusher but that I was really good at throwing up. I knew it! Anyways, end of my longest blog post ever. But Riley Quinn was born weighing 6 pounds 10 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. She is absolutely perfect and we are obsessed with her as you can tell from the title of this post. As I sit and type this blog she is napping next to me making the best baby noises ever and I can't help but smile. Not sure how Tom and I could make something so cute, but we did, and we're so happy that we did!

traditions continued

When my brothers and I were younger we had some of the best traditions with our two aunts that lived close by to us, Jana & Dolly. For Easter we would go over to their house to dye easter eggs every year and for Christmas we would make gingerbread houses and christmas wreaths out of corn flakes. It's like rice krispy treats but you use corn flakes instead of rice krispy's and might I add that it is absolutely delicious!
This year Malan & Madi spent the night at my parents house one night while Cort and Mary Ann had a date night and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to continue the tradition with my nieces. I have so many fond memories doing this with my aunts and seeing the time and love that they put into everything they did for us. I hope I can continue to do this every year!

Here's Malan & Madi showing off their wreaths in front of the Christmas tree and the other picture is of them attempting funny faces :)
